Hyderabad: Panjagutta Steel Bridge was thrown open to the public on Thursday.
The new bridge will help to ease the traffic on busy Road Number 3 at Banjara Hills.
Earlier, the old entrance to the Panjagutta graveyard was removed. This had made it difficult for people to get to the graveyard. It also caused frequent traffic congestion. Now, with the help of the newly-constructed bridge, vehicles can go directly from the Nagarjuna Circle to KBR Park junction without causing any traffic problems as the road has been widened from the Old Gate to the high-tension power pole.
The bridge was inaugurated by Talsani Srinivas Yadav, Telangana minister for animal husbandry, fisheries, and cinematography.
GHMC had decided to widen the road from the Steel Bridge to the Old Gate in a bid to solve the traffic problems. Now, the total road area is 140 meters, of which the approach return wall is 57 meters and the flyover is 9.6 meters. A total of 46 steel girders have been installed.
The inauguration event was attended by city mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, deputy mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy, and legislators, MLCs, MPs, and corporators.
