Hyderabad: In an attempt to ease traffic in Panjagutta, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has completed the construction of the Panjagutta Steel Bridge that is scheduled to be inaugurated on 20 January.
Earlier, the old entrance to the Panjagutta graveyard was removed and a newly-constructed cable bridge was opened. This had made it difficult for people to get to the graveyard. It also caused frequent traffic congestions. Now, with the help of the newly-constructed bridge, vehicles can go directly from the Nagarjuna Circle to KBR Park junction without causing any traffic problems as the road has been widened from the Old Gate to the high-tension power pole.
The bridge will be inaugurated by Talsani Srinivas Yadav, Telangana minister for animal husbandry, fisheries, and cinematography, on Thursday.
GHMC has decided to widen the road from the Steel Bridge to the Old Gate to solve the traffic problems. Now, the total road area is 140 meters, of which the approach return wall is 57 meters and the flyover is 9.6 meters. A total of 46 steel girders have been installed and completed.
The inauguration event will be attended by city mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, deputy mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy, and legislators, MLCs, MPs, and corporators.
