Perfumes to silverware: Come, have a glimpse of 6th Nizam’s royal wardrobe at HEH Nizam’s Museum

This inauguration by Telangana Minority Affairs Advisor A.K Khan inaugurated coincided with the 90th birth anniversary of the Late H.E.H. Mukarram Jah Bahadur, the VIIIth Nizam of Hyderabad.
The wardrobe of H.H. Nawab Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, the VIth Nizam of Hyderabad (1869-1911), is nothing short of extraordinary. It is renowned as the world's largest wardrobe, comprising two parallel wardrobes, each stretching 176 feet long, crafted from the finest Burma teak and constructed on two levels. This wardrobe serves as a testament to the opulence and grandeur of the Nizams of Hyderabad.
Located within the Purani Haveli Palace, known as H.E.H. Nizam’s Museum, this cultural treasure trove showcases a rare collection of artifacts from the Nizam era.
Among its prized exhibits are a collection of perfumes once used by the Nizam, the world's largest natural pearl, a walk-in wardrobe, Qutb Shahi and Asaf Jahi coins, silver models of Osmania University, and the Soan River bridge, along with an array of silverware, swords, letter scrolls, boxes, and gifts presented to the Nizam.
Addressing an audience gathered for the Founder's Day celebrations of Mukarram Jah School, A.K Khan underscored the Nizams' enduring legacy in the field of education. He highlighted how the Seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, during the construction of Osmania University, insisted on a design devoid of religious symbols, emphasizing the institution's secular nature. He praised the historical emphasis on education in Hyderabad, noting that professors were held in high regard, and the city made significant contributions to medical advancements.
Guest of Honor A. Shyam Mohan commended the school for its commitment to educational excellence while preserving the culture and heritage of Hyderabad. He invoked Gandhi's belief that education is a powerful tool for change, and he lauded the school as an exemplar of this principle.
Faiz Khan, a trustee of Mukarram Jah Trust for Education & Learning, emphasized the school's focus on quality education, infrastructure development, and sports facilities. He highlighted the school's achievements, including its ranking as the No.1 School in India by Education World.
Prince Mukarram Jah Bahadur, the VIIIth Nizam of Hyderabad, displayed a deep commitment to education. He dedicated properties like Purani Haveli and the Masarath Mahal Palace for educational purposes, ensuring that the people of Hyderabad had access to quality education.
Faiz Khan expressed satisfaction with the academic performance of the students and underscored the vital role of teachers in shaping not only academic skills but also the moral character and well-being of the young generation. In today's age of technology and social media, traditional methods of teaching, compassion, and mentorship remain irreplaceable.
The event also saw the Principal, Rekha Wadha, presenting the school's performance report, and certificates and awards were conferred upon the board exam toppers and teachers who achieved 100% results in various subjects. Currently, Mukarram Jah School hosts over 3,000 students following the ICSE syllabus, supported by a dedicated team of over 200 teachers and staff.
Princess Esra Birgen conveyed her best wishes to the school management and students, further emphasizing the significance of education in preserving Hyderabad's legacy.
