Petition filed in NGT against auction of Hyderabad Central University land
Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based Advocate Karupothula Revanth has filed a petition in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against the auction of Hyderabad Central University land.
For the past few months, the auctioning of 400 acres of land belonging to Hyderabad Central University by the Telangana government for industrial development has sparked widespread outrage among students and environmentalists. Despite severe opposition, the state government has remained adamant, pushing forward without reconsideration.
In response, Advocate Karupothula Revanth filed a petition with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in Chennai, urging intervention to halt the auction to protect the environment.
Advocate Revanth said instead of preserving the environment, the authorities are recklessly destroying lush green trees and rich biodiversity under the pretext of industrial development.
He highlighted that the 400-acre land in question hosts a diverse range of flora and fauna, contributing to the ecological balance and acting as a natural relief against the rising pollution levels in Hyderabad.
He emphasized that eliminating such environmentally significant areas is a shortsighted and harmful decision. Revanth affirmed his commitment to fighting this matter legally in the NGT until justice is served and the auction is stopped.
