Plumber dies of asphyxia at RGIA airport; police book `Faber Sindoori Facility' for negligence
A plumber died after inhaling toxic gas from the drainage pipeline in the arrival area of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, on Thursday.

Hyderabad: A plumber died after inhaling toxic gas from the drainage pipeline in the arrival area of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, on Thursday.
According to the police, Narasimha Reddy, 42, an employee of Faber Sindoori Facility Management Services was checking a drainage leak at the arrival point of the airport.
Two other workers identified as Zakir and Ilyas, from the same agency, who were working with Narsimha Reddy, skidded safe. The incident occurred around 8 pm in the International Arrivals area, said police.
"He was accompanied by two others and they had taken the help of a ladder to reach the ceiling. When they poured acid into drainage pipes to clear the blockage, there were fumes," said Prakash Reddy, DCP of Shamshabad.
Narasimha Reddy, Zakir, and Ilyas climbed the drainage line which is located on the roof of the International arrivals area, and entered the vent. They poured acid into the drainage pipes to arrest the leakage. But thick smoke started emitting from the pipes. As a result, all the three fell unconscious and collapsed in the vent.
When there was no response for a long time, workers alerted the rescue teams who rushed to the spot and pulled the three persons out of the vent. They were rushed to the Apollo Health facility at the airport. Narasimha Reddy was declared dead, while the other two recovered after first aid. Narasimha Reddy's body was shifted for a post-mortem. It is suspected that he died due to asphyxia.
DCP said a case of causing death by negligence (304A of the IPC) has been registered against Faber Sindoori Facility Management Services for not taking safety measures while executing cleaning works.
