Hyderabad: The sleuths of Commissionerā€™s Task Force, North Zone, along with Gandhi Nagar Police, seized unaccountable cash worth Rs 2.09 crores from a car in Kavadiguda, Secunderabad on Monday.

They arrested six persons in relation to the seizure.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Dinesh Kumar Patel, Sachin Kumar Vishnu Bai Patel, Jithender Patel, Shivraj Naveenbai Modi, Meet Rakesh Patel, and Thakor Nagji Chaturji.

Based on credible information, the law enforcement officials intercepted a car near the NTPC Intelligent Office Building, Kavadiguda in Secunderabad, being used by the accused to transport Rs 2.09 crores in cash. The car, along with a two-wheeler, was seized by the police. A case has been registered and the investigation is on.

Earlier in the day, Miyapur police seized 27.54 kg of gold and 15.65 kg of silver, with a total worth of around Rs 15 crores, during a vehicle check-up in the city. In another incident, the police seized Rs 14 lakh in cash while checking the vehicles.

Earlier, within 48 hours of the announcement of election dates, the police seized Rs 4 crore of unaccounted cash and gold world Rs 7.5 crore during vehicle checking.

In the backdrop of the ensuing elections, leaders are trying to entice people by giving them various gifts in different forms such as alcohol, gold and money. For this, they need to move large sums of money or valuables which are being stopped by the police officers who have increased the number of vehicles checking in the city.
