Hyderabad: Telangana Transport and Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has appealed to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for the early transfer of defence lands to the state, citing their crucial role in ongoing infrastructure and mobility projects in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Request backed by key leaders
The letter, also signed by GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijaya Lakshmi, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, and Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Ganesh, expressed appreciation to the Centre for agreeing in principle to release certain defence lands for public use.
Addressing growing infrastructure needs
The Minister stressed that the release of these lands would significantly help meet the twin cities’ rising infrastructure demands and enhance civic amenities for residents.
Pending dues from Cantonment
Ponnam Prabhakar also reminded the Defence Ministry that nearly Rs 1,000 crore in user charges from the Cantonment to the Telangana government remain pending, urging timely settlement to strengthen civic services in defence areas.
