Hyderabad: An illegal dairy manufacturing unit in Banjara Hills was busted for selling adulterated ghee and cream products. The Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda team), along with Masab Tank police, raided and arrested a man as part of a major crackdown on food adulteration.
Authorities seized adulterated dairy products and equipment worth Rs 18.26 lakh during the operation.
‘Pride Dairy’ unit raided in Banjara Hills
The raid was carried out at a dairy unit named ‘Pride Dairy’ in Bhola Nagar, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. During the operation, police apprehended Mohammed Junaid Hussain (26), the owner of the unit and a resident of the same locality.
According to police, the accused was illegally manufacturing ghee by mixing palm oil, vanaspati (dalda) and other low-quality substances with cow and buffalo cream. The adulterated products were then packed and sold as pure ghee in the market.
Huge quantity of adulterated products seized
During the raid, officials seized a large quantity of adulterated dairy products and manufacturing equipment from the premises. The seized items include:
- 460 kg of adulterated ghee
- 70 kg of mixed adulterated ghee
- 2,090 kg of adulterated cow cream
- 1,170 kg of adulterated buffalo cream
- 28 tins of Ruchi Gold vanaspati (dalda)
- Used oil packets and empty tins
Police also confiscated machinery and equipment used in the adulteration process, including two boilers, a pushing machine, a packing machine, two weighing machines, four gas cylinders, 70 basins (some containing ghee), 25 empty drums and packing covers.
Sold to public, hotels and event organisers
Investigators said the accused held a license but was illegally producing adulterated dairy products and selling them as original ghee to the public, hotels and event organisers, posing a serious risk to public health.
A case has been registered against the accused in Crime No. 50/2026 under Sections 318(4), 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Masabtank Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
