Rachakonda cops rescue 15 child workers working in factories
By Coreena Suares Published on 9 Jan 2021 10:15 AM GMTHyderabad: The Rachakonda anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU), in two separate cases, rescued 15 child laborers working in liquor bottle cleaning companies and plaster companies and arrested one person.
On 8 January, the AHTU team along with Vanasthalipuram division OS team and Hayatnagar police along with members of district child probation unit, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, and Spandana Children Society members conducted joint raids on Shiva Traders, a liquor bottle cleaning company, in Pasumamula village under the limits Hayathnagar police station. They rescued five minor girls between the ages 8 and 15 years.
All girls belong to Pasumamula village. The owner of the company, Channabathina Ravi (30), was exploiting the minor girls in contravention of the labour laws. He was paying each girl 25 paisa for cleaning one MT liquor bottle. He has been arrested.
On the same day, AHTU rescued nine boys and a girl aged 8-17 years who were working in plaster companies located at Kala Nagar in Pasumamula village. The AHTU team, Rachakonda, Vanasthalipuram division OS team, and Hayathnagar police along with others conducted joint raids on Sri Pavan Putra Plaster Company and Laxman's Plaster Company and rescued the children. Two of the children are from Uttar Pradesh, 7 from Maharashtra, and one from Bihar.
All children were trafficked by the owners of the two companies and were detained in sheds located within the premises of the companies. The owners Eetukala Jagan Mohan Reddy (43) and Laxman are absconding.
