Raidurgam traffic police take U-turn, ask Instagram fame Kumari Aunty to continue business

By Sistla Dakshina Murthy Published on 31 Jan 2024 10:24 AM GMTHyderabad: A day after carrying out a traffic enforcement drive near Hotel ITC Kohenur in Madhapur, the Raidurgam traffic police on Wednesday took a U-turn on their orders issued to shut the business of Instagram fame Sai Kumari aunty for a week until she find a suitable location.
The traffic police are claiming that they have asked Kumari aunty to carry out her business without causing any traffic congestion on the stretch adjacent to Hotel ITC Kohenur in Madhapur. As part of their streamlining of traffic, a team of police personnel from Raidurgam traffic station went for a ground level inspection to the road adjacent to Hotel ITC Kohenur on Wednesday.
Speaking to NewsMeter, Raidurgam traffic additional inspector M Vijayanand said, āWe didn't impose any restrictions or asked Kumari aunty to relocate her business from Madhapur. On Tuesday, as part of streamlining the traffic, we have asked the staff of Kumari aunty eatery not to park their vehicle on the road side and cause traffic congestion on the stretch. A couple of days ago, we imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on her food transporting vehicle for causing traffic snarls near the eatery. Once again, the vehicle was parked on the roadside on Tuesday causing traffic congestion.ā
The additional inspector also said that a section of youtubers and youth unnecessarily who thronged the stretch made the traffic encroachment drive viral and they created a fake news that the police ordered Kumari aunty to relocate her business. āWe have visited the stretch to streamline the traffic. Not only Kumari aunty eatery stall, we also asked other eatery stalls to carry out their business on the stretch without causing any traffic congestion,ā Vijayanand said.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed the Director-General of Police (DGP) Ravi Gupta and MA&UD officials to rescind their decision to shift Instagram fame Sai Kumari aunty, who runs a roadside eatery adjacent to Hotel ITC Kohenur in Madhapur.
An announcement in this regard was made by Chief Ministerās Public Relations Officer Ayodhya Reddy Boreddy on his X (formerly Twitter). In his tweet, he said, āHonāble CM Sri @Revanth_Anumula garu directed the @TelanganaDGP&MAUD to rescind their decision to shift #KumariAunty a streetside eatery. She will stay in her place. Prajala Palana means the government stands by entrepreneurs. Congress govt will stand by the poor & visit her stall shortly.ā
With this, the hurdles were cleared for Kumari aunty to continue her business on the same road stretch in Madhapur. Revanth Reddy will also visit the Kumari aunty eatery stall to taste the mouth watering food delicacies being served to her customers comprising IT employees and daily wage labourers.

In response to Revanth Reddy's directions, Kumari aunty said, āI am very happy with the decision taken by the chief minister allowing us to continue our business on the roadside. I will not take any advantage of the support given by the government for my roadside eatery. I appeal to all the rest of the roadside eatery owners on the stretch also adhere strictly to the guidelines given by the traffic police personnel.ā
Reacting to police orders to shut her business for a week, Kumari aunty also said that the traffic police had received several complaints from the motorists due to traffic congestion near my eatery stall. āI am not inviting any food bloggers and youtubers to visit my stall to promote my business. The police misunderstood about the crowd thronging my eatery stall. Though many suggested expanding my business, I know my capabilities and carrying out my business accordingly,ā she said.
Kumari aunty also thanked Revanth Reddy and said that she was very excited after knowing that the chief minister showed his interest to visit her eatery stall.
War between YSRCP and TDP supporters on X (Twitter)
On the other hand, several youtube influencers and youth extended their solidarity to Kumari aunty after the eviction of her eatery on Tuesday. Apart from that, the closure of Kumari auntyās eatery by Cyberabad police also triggered a war between the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
In one of her interviews with vernacular media, Sai Kumari aunty said that she benefited from the Jagananna Housing Scheme in Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP social media handles blamed Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan for targeting her through the Revanth Reddy government which is in cahoots with them.
