Raina-led Urbanrisers Hyderabad cricket team unveil jersey; debut match on November 21

Hyderabad: Urbanrisers Hyderabad, debutants in the Legends League Cricket (LLC), are gearing up for their inaugural match on November 21. Led by the former Indian cricketer ‘Mr IPL’ Suresh Raina, the city-based franchise unveiled their team jersey in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Urbanrisers boasts a lineup of notable players including Martin Guptill, Dwayne Smith, Peter Trego, Chama Kapugedera, and Stuart Binny. The team also features local talents such as Pragyan Ojha, T Suman, and Sudeep Tyagi.

Telugu film actor Venkatesh Daggubati, who participated in the unveiling ceremony, extended his best wishes to the team for their upcoming campaign. Co-owners Manoj Namburu and JC Pavan Reddy highlighted the team’s extensive player pool, emphasising its composition of 10 international and 11 Indian players. Pavan Reddy expressed the team’s commitment to providing the people of Telugu-speaking states with a team they can call their own.

Another former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra is the coach of Urbanrisers. Expressing confidence in the team’s capabilities, he said, “We have a very good bunch of players, and I hope we will win the trophy.”

Pragyan Ojha, also a former Indian cricketer, emphasised the significance of the league for retired players. “It provides a great opportunity for us to keep playing the game and ensures financial security. It is like a second life or second innings for the retired players,” Ojha noted, highlighting the league’s role in keeping players connected to the sport.

As Urbanrisers Hyderabad steps onto the LLC stage, the blend of experienced players and local talents, under the leadership of Suresh Raina, creates anticipation for an exciting inaugural season for the franchise in the Legends League Cricket.
