Rakul Preet Singh’s brother Aman Preet moves Telangana High Court to quash FIR in drugs case
Hyderabad: Aman Preet Singh, the brother of actress Rakul Preet Singh, has approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash a criminal case registered against him in connection with a drug-related offence.
Plea to quash FIR
In his petition, Aman Preet Singh challenged the case registered at the Masab Tank Police Station, requesting the court to set aside the FIR. He also sought interim directions restraining the police from proceeding with further investigation until the matter is decided.
Police allege Aman Preet absconded
According to the police, Aman Preet Singh is wanted in connection with a drugs case registered at the Masab Tank Police Station, which came to light following the recent arrest of two businessmen during a police operation.
During the investigation into the arrest of two businessmen, Nitin Singhania and Shranik Singhvi, both from Troop Bazaar, police discovered that Aman Preet Singh was allegedly a regular customer, officials said.
During the raid, police seized 43 grams of cocaine and MDMA from the arrested businessmen. Aman Preet Singh has been named as an accused in two separate drug-related cases, the officials added.
Court’s interim consideration
The petition came up for a preliminary hearing before the Telangana High Court. The petitioner urged the court to grant interim protection from coercive action, contending that the case was unwarranted and legally untenable.
Next hearing on January 9
After hearing the initial submissions, the High Court posted the matter for hearing on January 9. Until then, the court will consider the plea seeking interim relief against further investigation in the case.
