Respite from Heat: Expect rains in Hyderabad in coming days

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is bracing itself for a welcome change in weather patterns as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a significant rain spell in the coming days. According to the IMD, western disturbances are set to influence the region, bringing relief from the scorching summer heat.

The forecast indicates a thunderstorm spell sweeping across the state, with its peak impact expected on March 19 and 20. Hyderabad is likely to experience scattered rains during this period, offering much-needed respite to residents from the prevailing dry weather conditions.

According to the IMD release, thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas of Adilabad, Mancherial, Asifabad, Nirmal, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts on Monday. The alert has been extended to Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal Malkajgiri districts for the following days until March 21.

Mr. Rao, a meteorologist at the IMD, highlights the significance of these alerts, stating, "Thunderstorms can pose risks to public safety, especially with lightning and strong winds. It's crucial for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions."

The weather forecast indicates a cyclonic circulation over west Vidarbha & neighborhood, contributing to the atmospheric disturbances. Dr. Patel, a climatologist, emphasizes, "Understanding weather patterns and heeding warnings from authorities is vital to minimize risks associated with severe weather events."

Furthermore, the IMD has issued a warning for specific districts of Telangana, detailing potential thunderstorm activities accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. Mr. Kumar, a weather analyst, advises, "Residents in these districts should remain vigilant and follow safety protocols outlined by local authorities."

Low probability of heatwave

Explaining the weather dynamics, the IMD highlighted the presence of a trough extending from east Vidarbha to north Tamil Nadu, running across Marathwada to the Comorin Area through interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the lower tropospheric levels. This trough’s influence is expected to result in isolated light rainfall over Telangana from March 16 to March 20.

Furthermore, the IMD noted a low probability of a heatwave over Telangana until March 20. The IMD-Hyderabad office also forecasted a cloudy sky over the next five days in the city, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.

Much needed break

The impending rain spell comes as a relief for Hyderabadis, offering a much-needed break from the relentless summer heat. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during the anticipated thunderstorm spell.

In response to the alerts, authorities urge residents to download weather apps such as Mausam, Damini, and Meghdoot for updates and alerts. Mr. Reddy, a government official, emphasizes, "It's essential for everyone to stay informed and prepared, especially during unpredictable weather conditions."

Hyderabad is gearing up for a refreshing bout of summer rains and thunderstorms, providing a welcome respite from the soaring temperatures. With scattered rains expected in the coming days, residents can look forward to cooler weather and temporary relief from the dry spell.
