RR dist: PIL filed against allotting Rs 700 Cr worth of land at Rs 100 per acre

Telangana: A human rights activist has filed a Public Interest Litigation in Telangana High Court seeking a direction to stay or suspend the government order through which the former BRS government allotted prime land worth Rs. 700 crore at a throwaway price of Rs.100 per acre to Viswa Balija Kapu, Thelaga, Vontari, Turpu Kapu, Sanghala Samakhya for constructing Community Bhavan.
Sunkara Naresh, a practicing advocate cum human rights activist and a resident of Himayath Nagar, Hyderabad filed PIL seeking suspension of GO.Ms.No. 87 dated 02-08-2023 Revenue (Land Administration-II) Department.
The petitioner contended that the precious land measuring Ac. 6.35 guntas is located in Survey No. 41/14, Khanamet village, Serilingampally Mandal, Rangareddy district.
He said the market price of the land runs in crores. He said to appease a particular caste, the BRS government allotted prime land at Rs.100 per acre, thereby violating various Supreme Court judgments. SC clearly has stated that the states are the custodians of its lands and those should be protected at all costs and cannot be frittered away.
The Supreme Court had further held that the allotment of land is not permissible except where it is being given to the poor sections of SCs and other downtrodden sections to construct houses or perform agriculture activities.
Principal Secretary to the Government Revenue (Land Administration-II), CCLA, District Collector, Rangareddy district and the Viswa Balija Kapu, Thelaga, Vontari, Thurpukapu, Sangala Samakya, office at MP, MLA colony, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad have been made respondents in the PIL.
The PIL will come up for a hearing before in a couple of days.
