Rs 100 crore Jubilee Hills land freed from encroachments after two decades
Hyderabad: A high-value land parcel at Jubilee Hills, worth nearly Rs 100 crore, has been freed from encroachers after two decades.
Acting on High Court orders, the Hyderabad District Revenue Authority (HYDRAA) on Monday cleared illegal sheds and restored possession of the 2,000 sq yd site near the Jubilee Hills Checkpost.
Plot reserved for public amenities
The land belongs to the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society and was earmarked in the layout for public amenities. However, it was encroached upon by one Pilla Satyanarayana, who fabricated a house number and set up a nursery on the site.
Alleged encroacher used site amid legal battle
Despite repeated attempts by GHMC to reclaim the property, Satyanarayana approached the High Court and secured a status quo order. Even under the order, he was barred from construction or business activity but continued to run the nursery and erect temporary sheds.
HYDRAA steps in
The housing society lodged a complaint in HYDRAA’s Prajavani grievance forum.
Commissioner AV Ranganath directed an inquiry, which confirmed the land was reserved for public use. HYDRAA served notices to the encroacher, who again moved the High Court. The court later vacated the status quo and gave HYDRAA the go-ahead for demolition.
Encroachments razed
On Monday morning, HYDRAA teams entered the site, allowed the nursery operators to shift their plants and demolished the unauthorised structures. The land was formally secured with signboards marking it as society property.
Society hails action
Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society president Ravindranath and executive members expressed gratitude to the Telangana government, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath and GHMC officials. They said their prolonged legal battle had finally borne fruit, as land worth Rs 100 crore was rescued from land grabbers.
