RTA offices in Hyderabad go digital with ‘Sarathi’; ‘Vahan’ services set to launch in 45 days

Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Department has rolled out ‘Sarathi’ online services across all Regional Transport Authority (RTA) offices in Hyderabad.

The move is aimed at streamlining public services and reducing the need for in-person visits to government offices.

Citywide launch after pilot success

According to transport department officials, the Sarathi services were initially launched on a pilot basis at the Secunderabad RTA office and later expanded to Khairatabad a week ago. Following successful implementation, the services are now available across all RTA offices in the city.

Key services are now just a click away

Under the Sarathi platform, citizens can now renew their driving licences, update personal details such as address, and transfer licences between locations. All of these services can be availed online, with just the payment of a nominal fee.

The centralized database now allows for real-time updates across offices, ensuring greater flexibility and convenience, the officials said.

‘Vahan’ services to Go Live soon

In the next 45 days, the Transport Department plans to launch ‘Vahan’ services, which will simplify the vehicle registration process. From that point, vehicle registrations will be handled directly by dealerships at the time of sale, eliminating the need for buyers to visit the RTA office.

Efforts are also underway to make the mParivahan mobile app operational in the city, which will further facilitate digital access to transport services.

Technical glitches being addressed

Despite the progress, users have reported technical glitches in the Sarathi portal, particularly during the document and photo upload process. Transport officials confirmed that support staff are assisting applicants and that corrective measures are being taken to resolve these issues promptly.

“This digitisation drive is part of the Telangana government’s broader initiative to modernise public service delivery, improve transparency, and enhance user experience across departments,” said a senior transport department official.
