Hyderabad: An Armed Reserved sub inspector serving as education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy’s security personnel allegedly fatally shot himself from a close range, near Manikanta tiffin centre in Srinagar colony, within the jurisdiction of Jubilee Hills Police Station, in Hyderabad.
The incident happened on Sunday around 7 am while he was on duty.
A preliminary investigation led by West Zone DCP Joel Davis indicated that financial troubles drove him to take this extreme step.
Sources said that the SI visited a tiffin centre near the minister’s residence in the morning to discuss his financial woes with Fazil's daughter. According to her, he was unable to withstand the harassment from loan app agents.
“It has come to our attention that the SI had applied for a loan, and we are checking whether he faced harassment related to repayments,” said Joel Davis.
After the news of his death broke out, the minister visited the bereaved family.
The deceased was taken to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and the investigation is on.
