Sammakka Saralamma jathara: TSRTC to run 6,000 special buses from February 21

Hyderabad: To ensure a hassle-free journey for people travelling to Asia’s largest tribal fair at Medaram, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is gearing up to operate as many as 6,000 special buses for Sammakka Saralamma jathara from February 21 to 24, 2024.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Seethakka, accompanied by the TSRTC officials, inspected the arrangements being taken by the TSRTC during the jathara of Tadwai mandal of Mulugu district on Monday. They inspected ticket issuing counters at Tadwai, three bus parking points at Kamaram, a temporary bus stand, a base camp and 48 queue railings set up on 55 acres at Medaram.

The ministers visited Sammakka Sarakka temple and performed special prayers. Later, a review meeting was held with TSRTC officials at Haritha Hotel in Medaram. The duo directed the RTC officials to make all arrangements so that the devotees coming to the Medaram jathara do not face any difficulties. Special measures should be taken to that effect as free bus travel will be applicable in all special buses for the jathara under the Mahalakshmi scheme.

30 lakh devotees expected

The ministers commended the efforts of TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar and officials for providing a safe journey for over 14.50 crores under the Mahalakshmi scheme in Telangana. The TSRTC base cap will be started in Medaram on February 16. Around 14,000 RTC staff will perform their duties in the Medaram jathara and special measures are being taken for their accommodation and meals, minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar said.

“The TSRTC has taken the Medaram jathara prestigiously. All the arrangements are being made to avoid any trouble to the devotees. We are expecting over 30 lakh devotees to participate in the Jathara and plans are made to make buses available according to the traffic,” Sajjanar said.

The TSRTC MD said that every year there will be a high traffic of devotees to Medaram from the erstwhile districts of Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam and Adilabad. In this regard, as many as 51 traffic-generating points have been identified in the respective districts. All arrangements are being made for the convenience of passengers at traffic generating points, he added.
