Secunderabad: Army Dental College student ends life, police suspect depression

Identified as Sunanda Jangra, she was in the fourth year of BDS. Police said she was depressed over not getting admission into MBBS.
Police said Rajbir Singh, a retired Subedar of the Army, has been residing at Ambala Cantonment, Defence Colony in Haryana.
His daughter Sunanda Jangra had aspired to study medicine. However, she could not get admission into MBBS and had to settle for BDS at the Army College of Dental Sciences at Kapra on the city outskirts.
Since her admission in 2016-2017, she was suffering from depression. She had even consulted a psychiatrist and her condition had improved.
Three days ago, she had a video call with her family and her mother discussed marriage plans with Sunanda. Apparently, she looked fine during the video call.
On Saturday, she was found hanging in her room. Her friends and staff informed Jawahar Nagar police. Her family members were also informed about the incident. Based on her father's complaint, police registered a case and started an investigation.
