Secunderabad: Muthyalamma temple desecrated, deity damaged; case registered, one held

Hyderabad: Police have arrested a man for allegedly vandalizing a deity at Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad.

CCTV footage shows a man barging into the temple and vandalizing the deity. Tension gripped the temple premises after the incident on October 14.

Locals were quick to find out about the vandalism. They caught the man and trashed him at the premises. Later he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. He was then handed over to the cops.

Union Minister G Kishen Reddy visited the temple and sought a detailed report about the incident.

Many BJP leaders, including Madhavi Latha, who unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha polls from the Hyderabad constituency, staged a protest at the temple premises. Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh was placed under house arrest, and cops prevented him from visiting the temple.

The video of the act has gone viral and many questioned Hyderabad police about the safety of temples.

Police version:

On October 14, Mahankali Police Station received a call from C.Sai Prakash. He stated that the Durga Matha Idol of Muthyalamma Temple, Kummariguda, had been damaged/demolished by an unknown person.



The complainant said people had caught the unknown person. Durga Matha Idol was lying outside the temple. The accused was handed over to the police.

Police have registered a case under section 333,331(4), 196,298,299 BNS and took up the Investigation for further investigation.
