Hyderabad: A local court has directed an online social media channel to take down a `fake and defamatory videoā against Paradise Food Court.
City Civil Court, Secunderabad, passed the order after Paradise Food Court filed a petition seeking action against individuals and entities responsible for spreading falsehoods aimed at tarnishing its reputation.
Background of the Case
Instagram account 'telugucrimefiles2023' had posted a fake video portraying Paradise Food Court in a bad light.
This prompted Paradise Food Court to file e lawsuit.
The court extended the order to anyone involved in circulating the video from its origin.
Court's Ruling and Injunction
The court directed the removal of the misleading video and any related comments or posts from social media platforms. An ad-interim injunction was granted in favor of Paradise Food Court, prohibiting the channel and its associates from making or publishing any defamatory statements against the brand on any public or private platforms.
Seeking Damages and Justice
Paradise Food Court has also demanded Rs. 3 crore for damaging its reputation.
Gautam Gupta, CEO of Paradise Food Court, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision., "The Honāble Court has accepted our plea and has granted ad-interim injunction against the social media channel and those involved in circulating the fake video," he said.
He said those who seek to damage the reputation of businesses and undermine customer trust should be held accountable.
