Security tightened at Charminar for Yogi Adityanaths visit

Hyderabad: Security has been increased near Charminar in view of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's decision to visit the Bhagya Laxmi Temple in Charminar here on 1 July. Charminar was closed to the public on Saturday. It only opened after 5 p.m as Yogi, who was scheduled to visit the temple on Saturday afternoon and offer prayers, could not visit due to "important engagements."

Charminar police station sub-inspector Santosh Naidu said security was tightened for the safety of the public. He said the same security arrangement will be followed on Sunday as well. But the police are not sure when Yogi is scheduled to visit the temple.

According to sources from the Hyderabad police, Yogi has been advised against visiting the temple in view of BJP leader Nupur Sharma's controversy.
