The property falls under the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Durgam Cheruvu
Though the notice was served to Tirupati Reddy on August 3, it came to light on Thursday.
The move assumes significance since the chief minister on Wednesday made it clear that his family properties would also be demolished if they were constructed in the FTL or buffer zones of a lake.
Revenue officials, led by the Rangareddy District Collector and Serilingampally Deputy Collector, also issued similar notices to residents of Nectars Colony, Doctors Colony, Kavuri Hills, and Amar Society, which are adjacent to Cheruvu.
The notice, issued under Section 23(1) of the WALTA Act, mandates that the encroaching structures beyond the permissible limits be voluntarily demolished within the given timeframe. Failure to comply will result in the authorities carrying out the demolitions themselves.
In the notice, the officials mentioned that Tirupati Reddy's property comes under the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Durgam Cheruvu and gave a deadline to demolish it within a month after receiving the notices.
Reacting to the notice, Tirupati Reddy said, “I purchased the property in 2015, and was unaware that the land was classified within the FT of Durgam Cheruvu at the time of purchase. I have no problem with any remedial measures the government takes as part of their larger effort to deal with such encroachments if they find his construction is on FTL land.”
The land is registered under the name of P Koteshwar Rao.
List of encroachments:
Here is the list of encroachments (built on FTL and Buffer zone) identified on Gangaram Pedda Cherruvu and Durgam Cherruvu.
The list by the Revenue department has tasks given to identify structures built on tanks, nalas, lakes.
