`She was crying inside bathroom: Mother of 4YO DAV School rape victim narrates ordeal

Breaking silence, the mother of the four-year-old rape victim flagged the security lapses in B.S.D.A.V. Public School at Banjara Hills.

"How can a driver be allowed inside the school premises? He was not a staff member but he would take the students to the digital room and teach. On what basis did he do that? On top of that, he would close the doors," she said,

Narrating the ordeal, she said her child would complain of pain and cry after returning from school. "She wouldn't tell me what happened. She was crying inside the bathroom, and I was crying outside. We didn't know what was happening. Even the other day, he (the accused driver) pressed her neck, slapped her, and threatened her she would be killed if she dared to say anything at home," she added.

Parents approached the school management soon after they came to know about the horrific incident. When they didn't get an adequate response, they filed a police complaint.

Parents said the digital room where the assault happened was right across Principal's cabin. Even other kids have complained about taking them into the digital room.

"When all this was happening, why didn't the teachers' question? There are a lot of senior teachers with 30-plus years of experience," parents said.

Another parent said there is a lack of security in the school. "On the very first day, my child went missing. The auto driver later found them outside the school gate. The same day we complained, there was no response. There are no CCTVs either. They said they would be installed when we asked for them, but nothing happened," the parent said.

Parents said even the CCTV present near the Principal's office is not working. "They say it is not working for a few days," the parents said.

The principal's driver was arrested on Tuesday night. He was produced before the court on Wednesday morning. The principal was also arrested and produced before the court on Wednesday.

A case has been filed against the Principal and driver under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, 10, read Section 9(m) 21 of the POCSO Act 2012.
