Six migrant workers from UP, Jharkhand killed in a road accident at Patancheru

Six migrant workers were killed and three others sustained injuries when their vehicle rammed into a van on the Outer Ring Road at Patancheru in Sangareddy district.

The mishap occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday when the Mahindra Xylo they were traveling in crashed into another vehicle. Sangareddy police rushed to the spot and started an investigation.

According to police, the victims were from Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. They were working as carpenters in different parts of Bengaluru.

While the purpose of their travel is not clear, police are of the opinion that they were on their way home. On Monday evening, they started from Bengaluru. They were traveling via Hyderabad. On Hyderabad's ORR, the vehicle crashed and turned turtle.

Police suspect that the driver in an attempt to overtake the vehicle moving entered the fourth lane on the extreme right of the ORR. In the process, the vehicle driver could have failed to negotiate the distance and crashed.

Further, the vehicle flipped multiple times and landed a few meters away from the crash site. The crash disrupted the traffic movement for quite some time. Police and patrolling teams rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation. Six persons died on the spot, while three others sustained minor injuries, police said.
