Six Telangana students evacuated from Israel and Iran; several others await return

Hyderabad: As part of the plans to ensure the safe return of Indian citizens from the conflict-hit regions of the Middle East, six students from Telangana landed in Delhi in the early hours of Monday.

Among the six students, four arrived from Iran and the other two from Israel. All six had pre-booked domestic flights to Hyderabad and were received by staff at Telangana Bhavan, who facilitated their onward travel. The students left for Hyderabad around 5:30 am.

The Telangana State government is coordinating the return of citizens stranded in conflict-hit regions of the Middle East, as ongoing instability continues to affect Indian nationals abroad.

ā€œWe received them at midnight and ensured they had a place to rest before catching their flights,ā€ said a statement from the State government. ā€œThey were given basic assistance and helped with local transit.ā€

Seven more set to arrive, others still stranded

Seven more citizens from Telangana are expected to land in New Delhi tonight.

The group had crossed from Israel into Amman, Jordan, and is reportedly en route to India. Arrangements are being made to receive them at the airport and provide accommodation and support.

However, others remain stuck in Israel due to temporary closures of airspace and limited flight availability. ā€œWe are receiving updates in real time,ā€ the statement added. ā€œCoordination is ongoing with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassies.ā€
