Hyderabad: The speed limits on the main access road at the RGI Airport (Rajiv Gandhi International Airport) in Shamshabad have been increased from 60 kmph to 80 kmph to decrease traffic issues on the stretch.
The Station House officer of RGIA, Shamshabad, has revealed that traffic issues will decrease if the speed limits are increased on the main access road at RGI Airport i.e. from Galaxy main gate to Airport rear gate.
The stretch is about 6 km and the road surface is in good condition with a proper drainage system, the officer said. The present road width is 60 feet with a central median and proper illumination. The officials erected the revised speed limit boards on the above stretch, identified the location for the installation of the automatic speed enforcement system at RGI Airport and further mentioned that the speed limit enforcement system data be directly linked to police data as the speed cameras will be configured with the traffic system.
Further, the SHO also obtained a letter from the full-time officer of NAC wherein he said that given the road design details provided, there is no objection to ensuring the design speed of the main access road in RGIA premises at 80 kmph.
