Hyderabad: A shocking case of food safety violation has surfaced in Banjara Hills, where a restaurant was found supplying spoiled biryani through online delivery platforms.

Venkataramana Colony resident complaint triggers action
The incident came to light after a resident of Venkataramana Colony on Road No. 2, Banjara Hills, ordered chicken biryani via an online food delivery app on Sunday morning.
Upon opening the parcel, he noticed a foul smell and discovered that the food was rotten. He immediately lodged a complaint at the Banjara Hills Police Station.

Biryani, prepared three days ago, was put on sale
Acting on the complaint, police conducted a raid at the ‘Lucky Biryani Shawarma’ restaurant in the same locality.
During the inspection, officials found around 80 biryani packets stored in a refrigerator.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the biryani had been prepared three days earlier at a unit in Jeedimetla, packed and transported to the outlet. The food was allegedly reheated in an oven and delivered to customers upon receiving orders.
Serious hygiene violations found
Authorities also found severe hygiene lapses at the restaurant.
The kitchen and storage areas were reportedly unclean, and rats were seen moving inside the refrigerator, raising serious public health concerns.
Hotel sealed, case registered
Based on the findings, police registered a case against the restaurant owner, identified as Irfan, and sealed the establishment. Food Safety officials also conducted inspections and are expected to take further action.
The investigation is ongoing.
