Stall at MGBS fined for charging biscuit packet above MRP
The team is also looking for other violations like selling duplicate brands, prohibited items, items without date of packing and expiry date among others
By Newsmeter Network Published on 16 Oct 2021 11:01 AM GMTHyderabad: In an operation involving inspecting stalls near the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) under the supervision of the assistant traffic manager, a stall owner was imposed a penalty of Rs 1,000 for charging an item more than its Market Rate Price (MRP). The owner of stall no 10, Sri Venkateshwara Stores was found selling a biscuit packet for Rs 35 when its MRP was Rs 30.
So far, only one shop at MGBS has been imposed with a penalty. Around 20 stalls at various locations have been given warnings.
ADGP V.C. Sajjanar, MD of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) encouraged the public to cooperate and inform about such illegally functioning stalls to the respective depot managers. He tweeted, "In spite of many warnings, still the stall owners in bus stands are charging excess on MRP things. Our team has swung into action and are imposing penalties. We are also receiving complaints on social media. Appeal to people to complain about excess pricing to depot managers to curb this. (sic)"
The team is also looking for other violations like selling duplicate brands, prohibited items, items without date of packing and expiry date, encroaching into the platform and causing inconvenience to passengers, engaging hawkers, not keeping the surroundings tidy, and not maintaining suggestions and complaints book.
