State has received no assistance from Centre for flood victims: TS

Hyderabad: Officials from the finance department informed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao that so far, the state has not received any funds from the Centre for the rehabilitation of flood victims.

Heavy rains had lashed the state recently causing flash floods across the states and wreaking havoc, particularly in Hyderabad. KCR had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 October stating that the primary estimates revealed that the state had suffered losses worth Rs. 5,000 crore and requested Rs. 1,350 crore as immediate relief. A Central team had also visited the state and assessed the situation. "After all this, we expected some assistance from the Centre but as of date, not even a single rupee has been released," the officials told the CM.

KCR said it was once again proved that the Centre makes empty promises and does not take any action. Despite heavy losses incurred by the state due to heavy rains and floods, the Centre's attitude is exposed as it failed to release even a single rupee as assistance in this regard, he alleged, adding it is highly regrettable that help has not been extended even when a city like Hyderabad suffered heavy losses.
