Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police commissioner, Stephen Ravindra, held a review meeting in his office on Thursday to discuss summer crime prevention. During the meeting, the CP highlighted that certain crimes, such as automobile theft, household theft, and property theft, are more common during the summer months. To tackle this issue, the Cyberabad commissionerate has identified major hotspots by analysing summer crimes over the past five years.

To address the issue of summer crime, a circular containing action plans for summer crime prevention strategies was issued. The memo stressed that most of the thefts occur during the summer season.

The CP urged the police personnel to prioritise summer theft prevention for the next two months and recommended conducting daily reviews of important hotspots within the zone-wise police station. The CP emphasised the need to work together, from higher-level officers to constables, to prevent and detect crime. It is also essential to increase public trust in the police force, he said.

The CP said he will monitor day and night beats zonally and use the full police force on beats and patrols. Interstate gangs from other states should be kept under check. To increase awareness, seminars should be organised in gated communities and apartments, and CCTV cameras should be installed in the villas of gated communities and apartments, he said. The police should also conduct awareness meetings with security personnel working in gated communities and apartments, he added.

Summer vacation safety: Public advised to take precautions

In addition to the policeā€™s efforts, the CP provided some advice to the public for summer vacation safety. He advised the public to keep valuables in bank lockers or hidden within their home and install a security alarm and motion sensor, use a central lock system for their house, inform the local police station when leaving their village, report suspicious individuals to the police, park vehicles within home premises and use locks/chains, hire trusted security guards instead of unknown domestic workers, and check home CCTV cameras online regularly. He also asked the public to keep the house clean and garbage-free while away, cover the main door with curtains or blinds, install lights inside and outside the house, ask trusted neighbors to watch their home, install CCTV cameras at entrances and inside the house, keep locks hidden in a secure location, take extra precautions with gold ornaments, and not share travel plans on social media.

He has urged the public to take these precautions seriously and work together with the police to prevent crime.
