Step by Step: How to verify drug licences of medical shops or distributors in Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has issued an advisory on how to verify the drug licences of the medical shops, wholesalers, or distributors in the state.

A `third-party verification’ feature has been made available on the ODLS portal of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, for verifying the genuineness of drug licence.

As per the rule, retail medical shops/pharmacies shall mandatorily verify the genuineness of the drug licence held by the wholesaler or distributor on the ODLS portal of the Drugs Control Administration before purchasing medicines.

Similarly, wholesalers/dealers shall mandatorily verify the genuineness of the drug licence held by a retail medical shop/pharmacy on the ODLS

Likewise, the public may also verify whether a medical shop or pharmacy holds a valid licence issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana.

Here is a step-by-step process to verify the drug licences

Step 1

Visit the following website:

https://odls.telangana.gov.in/ThirdPartypublicview.aspx

Step 2

Select `Sales' under the License Type.

Step 3

Enter the name of the medical shop or distributor in the search box and click on `Search'. The license details will be displayed on the page.

Public Advisory :

The public should avoid purchasing medicines from unlicensed sources and never buy medicines from unregulated websites or other online platforms. Purchasing medicines from such sources significantly increases the risk to public health, as they are unregulated.

It is advisable to purchase medicines only from licensed medical shops, which typically display their drug licenses, issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, conspicuously in a prominent place that is easily visible to the public. Selling medicines without a license is an offense, and medicines purchased from unlicensed premises are likely to be counterfeit products.
