Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a four-and-a-half year old boy was attacked by a stray dog at Anjaneya Nagar in Moosapet on Friday evening.

Sk Ramzan, grandfather of the boy, told News Meter that, “The incident happened at around 6 pm on Friday after my grandson was returning back home with his mother and grandmother after playing in a park in the locality. At that moment, a stray dog initially chased my wife but unfortunately it attacked my grandson with great ferocity for almost 10 minutes. It was after the repeated efforts of the park watchmen that the boy could be retrieved and rushed to a nearby hospital.”

Ramzan said the boy survived deep scratches on his left leg and back and sustained severe injuries in the attack.

“Over the months, stray dog menace was high in the locality. We are appealing to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials to act seriously to bring this problem under control. A special drive should be conducted to catch the stray dogs from the locality and avoid recurrence of such incidents in future,” he said.
