Street racing menace: Rs 1 lakh fine if caught; 89 bikes, 2 cars seized in Cyberabad

By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 Jun 2024 5:40 PM ISTHyderabad: In action against street racing, since June 1, the Raidurgam Police of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate registered nine cases and seized 89 bikes and two cars caught in the act near T-Hub, Knowledge City, Raidurgam, Serilingampally Mandal in Ranga Reddy District.
In the first week of June, at around 9 pm, the police received credible information about some youths racing bikes near T-Hub.
Responding promptly, Raidurgam Police arrived at the scene by 10 pm and discovered the racers performing stunts and creating a public nuisance. Their activities not only obstructed the general public but also posed a significant risk to human life by potentially causing road accidents.
Upon attempting to flee the scene, the police managed to apprehend 50 bikers on the spot. Cases were registered against all 50 individuals.
āAll bikers were produced before the second-class executive magistrate and were later released with a surety of Rs 1 lakh. If they repeat the offence, they will be imposed with a one lakh fine,ā stated K Srikanth, assistant commissioner of police, Madhapur Division, Cyberabad.
Since June 1, multiple cases have been registered which resulted in the seizure of 89 bikes and two cars in total. All vehicles will be handed over to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) for further action under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Cops appeal to parents
The police have issued an appeal to parents, urging them to control their children to prevent accidents and ensure their safety.
