Sudden downpour in Hyd; IMD predicts light rains till Aug 2nd
Heavy downpour caused water-logging leading to traffic jams in the city
By Newsmeter Network Published on 29 July 2022 1:31 PM GMTHyderabad: The heavy downpour and thunderstorms that the city witnessed on the afternoon of 29 July are due to the convergence of dry westerly winds and moist easterly winds. This phenomenon is being noted as the monsoon taking a break in south India, observed independent weather expert Rajanikanth Poolla.
The weather break is indeed proving costly for people as it is hot during the day and it pours in the afternoon. Independent weather forecasters are predicting light and moderate showers at night.

Partially cloudy conditions with high chances of thunderstorms accompanied with heavy rain most likely during next 3 days in the city.
The heavy downpour caused water-logging in the city. Garbage, rice bags, plastic bottles, and other materials choked the drains, obstructing the rainwater from flowing freely. Low-lying areas in the city were flooded. School buses were stuck as it became a major challenge to go into the small lanes of residential colonies.
The sudden downpour also caused heavy traffic in the city. Due to water logging, the Hyderabad traffic police have asked people to plan their travel accordingly. The areas of Cyberabad, Madhapur, Banjara Hills, Ameerpet, and Begumpet will see slow and heavy traffic due to the afternoon showers.
