Summer is here? Hyderabad records hottest February with maximum temperature of 35.8°C

Hyderabad: Summer likely started in Hyderabad when a maximum temperature of 35.8°C was recorded at Begumpet Airport on 13 February. It is reportedly the hottest day in February so far. This is three degrees higher than the mean daily temperature of 32.5°C.

Parts of North Telangana such as Adilabad recorded highest temperature of 39 °C.


Last year, February's maximum temperature was 38.3°C in Adilabad on 23 and 25 February.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the all-time highest maximum temperature in February was 39.4°C on 23 February 2016 in Ramagundam, and the lowest was 8.9°C on 3 February 1911.


Hot days ahead

According to Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, "This is the highest so far in 21 days in Hyderabad. Similar trend will continue in the coming days. Parts of North, East Telangana has recorded 39°C."

He tweeted, "Heat will continue in Telangana and will likely cross 39.9 degrees Celsius in a few places in the coming days. The minimum temperature in the city is also likely to increase gradually over the week."

According to Balaji, "This year, Telangana is expected to be hotter than the last two years. Mixed weather in the city is troubling people as it is quite hot during the day and cold at night. Such weather conditions in the state are a sign that harsh summers are ahead this year. Temperatures in some areas may record 47°C, while Hyderabad may record 44°C during peak summer months, primarily in May."
