Sunday Funday at Tank Bund cancelled again amid Omicron threat

This is to ensure we don't indulge in any avoidable social activity which might lead to increased exposure & probability of contacting," tweeted Arvind Kumar, Telangana special chief secretary.

Since 1 December 2021, the government has canceled the Sunday Funday programme at Tank Bund amidst the Omicron concern.
Since 5 September, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been making massive arrangements for traffic-free Sundays.
Meanwhile, Telangana recorded 12 new Omicron cases in the state on Saturday. The state now has 79 Omicron cases. Among the new cases, three were passengers who returned to the state from 'at risk' countries while nine had arrived from 'non-risk' countries.
Ten samples collected from COVID-positive passengers at the airport were sent for genome sequencing while reports for 21 previous samples are pending. Altogether, 123 passengers landed at Hyderabad airport on Saturday and 10 tested positive for COVID-19.
On Saturday, Telangana also saw a jump in COVID-19 cases reporting 317 new cases and two deaths. The state's number of active cases now stands at 3,733.
On the vaccination front, total first dose coverage has reached 101% while second dose coverage jumped to 69%.
