Swapnalok fire incident: Telangana HC issues notices to CS, others
GHMC, Fire Department, and other officials never bothered to check the premises
By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 April 2023 4:23 AM GMTTaking suo moto cognizance of the Swapnalok fire incident, Telangana high court issued notices to Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Municipal Administration, Commissioner GHMC, DGP TS, CP Hyderabad, DG Fire Services and Disaster Management, District Collector Hyderabad and the Member Secretary TS Legal Service Authority.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji on Monday directed the officials to respond by June 26 duly furnishing reasons for the major fire accident, which occurred in the Swapnalok complex, Secunderabad, leaving six persons dead on March 16.
High Court has converted the media reports into a suo motu.
As per the Media reports, this was not the first fire accident. A similar fire accident occurred in the Swapnalok complex in 2011 also.
Moreover, GHMC, Fire Department, and other officials never bothered to check the premises, ensuring that fire safety equipment is placed on the premises to thwart such gruesome fire accidents in further.
On the day of the fire accident, people could see thick smoke emanating from the Swapnalok complex and it spread over a 3 km radius. People could see it from distant areas like Bowenpally, Karkhana, Begumpet, Gandhinagar, and paradise.
