Tank Bund gears up for Telangana Day Celebrations on June 2

Hyderabad: On the occasion of the Telangana State Formation Day on June 2, a large-scale carnival with a captivating display of the art forms of the state will be organised on Tank Bund from 7 pm to 9 pm on Sunday.

One of the highlights of the celebrations will be the unveiling of the new Telangana State Song.

Around 80 stalls will be set up on Tank Bund which will include food stalls by well-known hotels in the city along with a spectacular display of products relating to handicrafts, handlooms and self-help groups. A recreation hall with various sports will be set up for children.

Cultural performances, an attractive firework display and a laser show will enthrall the people at the Tank Bund. All the government offices would be illuminated as part of the celebrations.

5,000 police officers are part of security arrangements

As a large number of people are likely to be present on Tank Bund on Sunday, officials have been directed to make elaborate arrangements so that they do not face any trouble.

On Monday, chief secretary Santhi Kumari visited the Parade Ground and inspected the arrangements. She instructed the officials to work in coordination so that the function is held in a grand and befitting manner.

She said that as many as 5,000 police officers who are undergoing training will participate in the carnival along with the band.

She enquired with the officials about the details of stage arrangements, barricading, electricity, water supply, mike system and LED screens and suggested certain improvements. The police officers were asked about the details of the arrangements to avoid traffic disruption, parking arrangements and VIP traffic.

Earlier in the day, the CS held a review meeting with the secretaries and senior officials of various departments at the Secretariat and took stock of the arrangements being made for the Stateā€™s Formation Day.

CM Revanth will pay tributes to Martyrsā€™ Stupa

The CS said that chief minister A Revanth Reddy will pay tributes to the martyrs of the Telangana State at the Martyrsā€™ Stupa in Gun Park on Sunday morning. Later, he will participate in the program at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds. The chief minister will also unveil the State Song and deliver a message on the occasion.

DGP Ravi Gupta, principal secretaries Dana Kishore, Sailaja Ramaiyer, Srinivasa Raju, GAD secretary Raghunandan Rao, additional DG Sanjay Kumar Jain, RTC MD Sajjanar, Information & Public Relations Department special commissioner Hanumantha Rao, NPDCL MD Mushraff, HMDA additional commissioner Amrapali Kata and other officials participated in the review meeting headed by chief secretary Santhi Kumari.
