TCA district committees file police complaints against HCA for `misusing’ funds

Hyderabad: District committees of the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) have filed criminal complaints against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for allegedly misusing funds meant for district cricket development over the past two decades.

Funds allotted but never spent: TCA

TCA alleged that while HCA has been claiming in its annual accounts that Rs 20 lakh is allotted each year towards district cricket development, a forensic audit conducted by Ernst & Young revealed no evidence of such funds being utilized in the districts.

“The then High Court-appointed committee and both Supreme Court-appointed committees had recommended a probe and action against those responsible, but successive HCA administrations ignored these recommendations,” the TCA said in a statement issued on Monday.

CID arrests HCA president

Amid these complaints, the Telangana CID had already arrested HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao, treasurer, and CEO for alleged irregularities and fund misappropriation. The arrests follow months of investigations into financial transactions and management lapses within the association.

More complaints likely

The TCA revealed that criminal complaints from other district units are expected to be filed on Tuesday. “TCA demands appropriate criminal action against all clubs and officials who siphoned off publicly accountable funds meant for uplifting downtrodden and rural cricketers in Telangana,” it added.
