Police have also arrested the father, who sold his child, and two women who mediated the deal.
Police said Hyder Ali had sold his son Hana Ali to the couple to clear his debts. Hyder Ali got Rs 1.80 lakh, while the mediators got Rs one lakh each.
According to police, Hyder Ali and Shahana Begum have been married for 18 months. Along with their only child Hana Ali, they were staying at MM Pahadi. For the past few days, Hyder Ali had been fighting with Shahana over petty issues. He had told her that he will sell the child and clear his debts.
Ali would often harass and beat his wife since she was against the idea of selling her baby.
On April 15, when Shahana was readying to offer namaz, Hyder Ali said he would take care of the child.
When she finished namaz, she did not find her husband and son. She called up Hyder Ali but to no avail. Later in the night, he returned home alone. When she asked about the child, he told that he has sold him off.
She informed her relatives and community elders. But before they arrived, he gave her a slip and escaped from the spot. Later she approached the police.
Teams from Rajendranagar police station along with Special Operations Team of Shamshabad zone worked out on the clues and nabbed Hyder Ali and the couple who purchased the child.
The couple has been identified as Abdul Riyaz and Saheda Mohammed. Two women who brokered the deal have been identified as Hajera Begum and Reshma Begum. The child was also rescued safely and handed over to his mother.
