Hyderabad: The Telangana Development Planning Society has forecast night temperatures between 10°C and 12°C across most districts in the coming days, signalling a steady shift into winter conditions.
IMD-Hyderabad’s local forecast for the city and neighbouring regions indicates partly cloudy skies with mist or hazy mornings, while minimum temperatures are likely to be 2–3°C below normal for the next two to three days. Daytime temperatures are expected to stay below the 30°C mark.
Kumuram Bheem Asifabad is the coldest at 8.2°C
After an extended monsoon, winter has begun to take hold across the State. Several northern districts registered significant drops in temperature on Wednesday night.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS):
• Kumuram Bheem Asifabad: 8.2°C (coldest in the State)
• Rajanna Sircilla: 9.1°C
• Adilabad: 9.5°C
Districts such as Nirmal, Jagtial, Sangareddy and Kamareddy reported night temperatures between 10°C and 11°C.
Meteorologist KS Sridhar, speaking to NewsMeter, said, “These early single-digit readings are typical of northern Telangana. The cooling pattern is expected to persist as cloud cover reduces.”
Hyderabad records seasonal drop
In Greater Hyderabad, the lowest temperature was recorded at Serilingampally (11.8°C). The nearby areas of Ramachandrapuram and Patancheru logged 12.5°C.
Other parts of the city saw slightly higher but still below-normal temperatures. IMD officials attribute this variation to local topography and the urban heat island effect.
Sridhar noted, “Hyderabad will continue to see mist and haze in the mornings. Minimum temperatures will stay below normal for the next few days.”
Visibility concerns on highways
IMD-Hyderabad’s highway forecast warns of haze along NH-7 and NH-9, especially during early hours. Motorists travelling through Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak, Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda may face reduced visibility.
“Drivers should remain cautious during morning travel. Haze formation is common in early winter and can affect visibility on major routes,” said Sridhar.
What to expect this week
• Night temperatures: 10°C–12°C across most districts
• Minimum temperatures: 2–3°C below normal
• Day temperatures: Below 30°C
• Morning conditions: Mist, haze and shallow fog in some regions
• Highways: Hazy stretches along NH-7 and NH-9
With temperatures continuing to fall, residents can expect colder mornings and cooler days as winter gradually strengthens across Telangana.
