Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has predicted a 2-3Ā°C rise in maximum temperatures across Telangana over the next three days. In response, the Telangana Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare has issued a heat wave advisory, urging citizens to take precautions against extreme heat.
Mercury on the Rise
According to IMD, prevailing atmospheric conditions, including clear skies and strong solar radiation, are contributing to the rise in temperatures. Areas prone to extreme summer heat, including Hyderabad, Nizamabad, and Khammam, are expected to experience elevated thermal discomfort in the coming days.
āDue to prevailing dry conditions and increased solar insolation, Telangana is experiencing a gradual rise in daytime temperatures,ā said K.S. Sridhar, Meteorologist from IMD Hyderabad, speaking to Newsmeter. The lack of significant cloud cover is allowing more heat to accumulate, leading to higher surface temperatures. Citizens should take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.ā
Public Advisory Issued
The Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare has outlined key dos and donāts to help citizens stay safe.
Precautions to Take:
ā¢ Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water, ORS, and natural coolants like lemon water, buttermilk, and fruit juices.

ā¢ Body temperature exceeding 40Ā°C (104Ā°F)
ā¢ Dizziness, confusion, muscle cramps, and rapid heartbeat
āIf anyone experiences these symptoms, they must seek immediate medical attention at the nearest government health center,ā Dr. Nayak added.
