Telangana excise department seizes 1032 liters of NDPL worth Rs 16.24L

Hyderabad: A total of 1,032 liters of non-duty paid liquor (NDPL) worth Rs 16,24,767 was seized during the week-long special drive conducted by the Prohibition & Excise Department at Shamshabad.

Eighty-five cases have been registered against individuals involved in liquor smuggling, with 81 people detained.

Minister for Prohibition & Excise, Sports, Tourism, and Culture, Dr. V. Srinivas Goud shared the results achieved in the fight against illegal liquor supply from Delhi, Haryana, and Goa.



One notable arrest took place at Quthbullapur station, where 15 individuals were arrested, and two cases were registered. The authorities confiscated 1,600 liters of liquor from Haryana, estimated to be worth Rs 30 lakhs.

The seizures made during the special drive were not limited to liquor alone. The authorities also confiscated 3 cars, 2 two-wheelers, and a container used for distributing liquor.

Minister said that strict action would be taken against individuals found in possession of alcohol beyond the permissible limits. Passengers arriving from abroad are allowed up to 2 liters of foreign liquor purchased from duty-free shops. Moreover, individuals are permitted to carry 4.5 liters of liquor and 7.5 liters of beer obtained from licensed shops within the state.

The minister also issued orders for constant vigilance and continued raids at Shamshabad airport to curb the illegal supply of liquor.
