Rehabilitation programmes

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, during a teleconference, directed the district collectors to carry out intensive relief and rehabilitation programs in the areas severely affected due to heavy rains over the past few days.

She said that relief programs should be undertaken at railway stations and bus stands where passengers are stuck. ā€œBlankets, bed sheets and additional medicines will be sent to the districts,ā€ she assured.

The CS complimented the district collectors for working together with the district government administration to prevent loss of life and property even as heavy rains have been lashing the state for the past few days.

All primary health centres, community health centres, district hospitals and private hospitals were asked to stay open 24 hours for the time being.

ā€œAs per the request from the collectors of various districts, four more helicopters and 10 NDRF teams have been requisitioned,ā€ she said.

Avoid selfies during rains

Telangana director general of police Anjani Kumar asked the parents to keep an eye on their children to avoid tragic mishaps during heavy rains. On Thursday, during a meeting, he asked people to avoid going near rivers, waterfalls and streams for taking selfies, putting their lives in danger.

ā€œSo far, about 700 people were rescued and relocated to rehabilitation centres. Our teams are constantly monitoring the flood situation. On the flood situation at Moranchapali in Telangana, a total of six NDRF teams are conducting a rescue operation,ā€ said the DGP.
