Hyderabad: Union tourism minister G. Kishan Reddy honoured the families of Telangana martyrs at Golconda Fort on Friday on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. He paid tribute to the people of Telangana for their struggle and sacrifices that led to the formation of the state.

Speaking about the Central government’s initiatives over the past nine years, Mr. Kishan Reddy said, “A staggering amount of Rs. 1,20,000 crores were allocated for the construction of National Highways in the state. Railways, under the Central government, introduced two Vande Bharat Express trains and allocated a budget of Rs. 720 crores for the modernisation of Secunderabad railway station. Thirty more railway stations have been chosen for modernisation, and plans for two new superfast railway lines connecting Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are underway.”

The minister also reminded attendees that Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) to the nation last year, highlighting the government’s commitment to industrial development.

Mr. Kishan Reddy added, “Raj Bhavans in all states across the country are hosting Telangana Formation Day celebrations, emphasising the nationwide significance of the occasion.”

As part of the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations, a two-day photo exhibition titled “Nine Years Achievements of the Government of India” was also inaugurated by the Union minister.

The exhibition, organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, showcased the significant milestones achieved during the past nine years. In addition, a booklet titled “9 Years Seva, Shusasan and GareebKalyan,” published by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was released during the event.

On 3 June, the visitors will once again be able to witness the spectacular cultural event that will mark the festival’s close in the evening.

Entry to Golconda Fort in Hyderabad will be free on both days — 2 and 3 June — during the day and for the cultural programmes.

Under the umbrella of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign, the Ministry of Culture is currently celebrating Telangana Formation Day at Golconda Fort. This event is part of the ‘Qila Aur Kahaniya’ campaign, which aims to highlight the historical importance of forts throughout India and promote cultural pride.

This large-scale event is a collaborative effort involving key institutions under the Ministry of Culture, including the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Zonal Cultural Centres, Lalit Kala Akademi, Sangeetnatak Akademi, CCRT, Sahitya Akademi, and others.
