Telangana gets 3 upgraded Passport Seva Kendras: check location, facilities

Hyderabad: Three upgraded Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) were inaugurated in Telangana on September 15 and 16.

The new PSKs will help expand access and improve passport services in the state.

The PSKs were set up at Karimnagar, MGBS Metro Station, and Raidurg. Union and State ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, and representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) were present on the occasion.

Relocated PSK in Karimnagar

On September 15, PSK at Fortune Mall, Ashoknagar, Karimnagar, was inaugurated by Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India.

The event was attended by Ponnam Prabhakar, Minister for Transport and BC Welfare, Government of Telangana; Chinnamile Anji Reddy, MLC; Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, IFS, Joint Secretary (PSP) and CPO, MEA; and J. Snehaja, IFS, Regional Passport Officer, Hyderabad.




Officials noted that the earlier Karimnagar PSK handled around 250 appointments daily, while the upgraded centre has been designed to manage higher volumes. Facilities now include improved seating, childcare support, and accessible amenities.

According to the Regional Passport Office, passports will be delivered within a week, and Tatkaal applications will be processed faster. The centre is expected to serve the growing demand from students, professionals, workers, and families with members abroad.

PSK at MGBS Metro Station, Hyderabad

On September 16, the PSK at MGBS Metro Station, Unit No. 1, Concourse Level, Imlibun, Hyderabad, was inaugurated by Ponnam Prabhakar. She said that relocating the centre to a major transport hub would increase accessibility for applicants across the city.

The ceremony was attended by Gadwal Vijaya Laxmi, Mayor of GHMC; M. Anil Kumar Yadav, MP (RS); Asaduddin Owaisi, MP (LS); Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi, MLC; Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, Hari Chandana, Hyderabad District Collector; K.V.B. Reddy, MD & CEO of L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited; and J. Snehaja,.

During the event, the Minister also inaugurated a TRIFED outlet at the PSK. The outlet, set up in collaboration with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), will provide a platform for tribal handicrafts, handlooms, and organic products.

“The outlet is expected to boost the livelihoods of tribal communities while offering passport applicants and visitors the opportunity to support India’s tribal heritage,” the Regional Passport Office stated.

Telangana’s Largest PSK at Raidurg

On September 16, the PSK at Siri Building, Old Mumbai Road, Raidurg, Serilingampally, was inaugurated by Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT, E&C, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana.

The inauguration was attended by Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLC and Government Chief Whip, Telangana Legislative Council; Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP, Chevella Constituency (LS); Arekapudi Gandhi, MLA, Serilingampally; Dr. K. J. Srinivasa; and J. Snehaja.

The Raidurg PSK is now the largest in Telangana and is located within the IT corridor to cater to the city’s growing professional and student population. With modern infrastructure and expanded amenities, the centre is designed to improve efficiency and comfort for applicants.

A TRIFED outlet was also inaugurated at the Raidurg facility. Officials noted that it would promote tribal entrepreneurship and provide an additional source of livelihood for tribal communities.

Citizen-Centric Service Expansion

Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, Joint Secretary (PSP) and CPO, MEA, said that the expansion reflects the MEA’s aim of improving efficiency and accessibility. “The relocation and upgradation of these centres are part of sustained efforts to enhance convenience, efficiency, and transparency in passport delivery,” he noted.

J. Snehaja, Regional Passport Officer, Hyderabad, reiterated the office’s commitment to timely and citizen-friendly services. She said the facilities were “designed to meet growing demand while providing applicants with an improved experience.”
