Telangana HC orders regularizing 174 contractual employees in lower courts
The court said their livelihood will be hit if their termination continues in terms of the outsourcing guidelines of October 2017.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Jun 2023 2:37 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana High Court on Monday directed the Registrar General and BRS government to regularize the services of 174 contractual employees working in lower courts.
A division bench comprising Justice P. Naveen Rao and Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka directed the Registrar General of the High Court and the state government to regularize 174 personal assistants, junior assistants, typists, and office subordinates.
All these employees were working in the lower courts for more than 10 years on a contract basis before their services were terminated. The decision was challenged in the High Court.
Later, the High Court passed an order for their continuation in the lower courts on outsourcing basis. The court said their livelihood will be hit if their termination continues in terms of the outsourcing guidelines of October 2017.
These employees were appointed in 2011 by the state government for establishing Special Magistrate Courts under the recommendations of the 13th Finance Commission. The commission was disbanded in 2016.
The state government had sanctioned 15 regular Junior Civil Judge-cum-Judicial First Class Magistrate Courts in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.
Division Bench passed orders in the writ petition filed by Ganta Sudhakar Rao and 171 others, all working in the lower courts on a contract basis.
