Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday launched live streaming of court proceedings from all its 29 courtrooms.

On the High Court’s website, Chief Justice Alok Aradhe officially launched the feature on Monday and the live streaming of court proceedings commenced at 10:30 am.

Though live streaming was available in a restricted manner for the proceedings in the first court, it was not available for all courts in the High Court until now.

The proceedings in all courtrooms can now be watched live by accessing a link on the High Court’s website. Telangana High Court consists of 42 courts. Out of which, only 29 courts are working.

In October 2020, the Gujarat High Court started live-streaming of court proceedings, which was made available on its YouTube channel.

Following suit, several High Courts including Karnataka, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, and Chhattisgarh took similar decisions in the interest of transparency and greater access to court hearings.

The High Courts of Kerala, Patna, and Jharkhand have uploaded live streams of court proceedings on their YouTube channels in the past. However, court proceedings in these courts are no longer available for the public to watch live on this platform.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also started live-streaming, albeit in a limited manner, with Constitution Bench hearings being made accessible on YouTube.
