Telangana High Court relocation: Four places proposed for new premises in Hyderabad

Telangana High Court Bar Association on Thursday proposed to shift the High Court from its present location to a spacious place in Hyderabad. In a General Body meeting, Bar Association President Verose Raghunath said four places in Hyderabad are very suitable for the New High Court building.

Malakpet Colony, where the government quarters are situated but are in dilapidated condition, can be demolished and the 80 acres of land can be utilized for the New High Court.

Government Quarters, Erramanzil Colony, which is also in dilapidated condition, can be demolished and the 85 acres of land shall be used for constructing a new High Court building.

Mehdipatnam Military personnel residences can be shifted to other place and they could be used for constructing a new High Court building.

Nehru Zoological Park, Bahadurpura is spread over 150 acres of land. Of the 150 acres of Zoo land, 25 acres must be allocated for advocates' residential quarters.

Parking is the biggest problem at the present location. In 2008, High Court Bar Association executive committee decided to acquire land for the new high court building. Unfortunately, it did not materialize.

Raghunath said that the present Telangana High Court complex is spread over 18 acres of land. Nearly 7 acres of land are reserved for parking. As per the official analysis, the parking lot capacity is for around 500 vehicles. From Monday to Friday, the flow of vehicles is very high and around 1200 to 1400 four-wheeler vehicles enter the High Court. Moreover, around 1400 two-wheeler vehicles also enter the high court premises every day.

During morning hours, High Court faces a huge paucity of parking. Moreover, it takes around 1 to 2 hours to park the vehicles for advocates.

With such mounting pressure, advocates are parking vehicles randomly, which is causing a lot of problems for others. This is also the reason for road rage and a rift between the traffic police and advocates.

After Bar Association's decision, security personnel are not allowing litigants and outsiders vehicles.

Senior Advocates Gandra Mohan Rao, Chikkudu Prabhakar, M.A.K Mukheed, and others expressed their views on the proposal court. They will meet again after Sankrati vacation to take up the issue with the government.
